Unfortunately, interest in something and the ability to do it do not always go hand in hand. In fact, the most common thing in any hobby is to start out being a disaster or simply knowing so little that it is normal to feel lost, but little by little you can improve. The downside of gardening is that starting out clumsy and unaided by someone who knows easily means that plant lives can be lost more easily.
Luckily, in this article, we bring you the solution: a selection of easy-care outdoor plants that even the most clueless or disastrous gardener can take care of quite successfully.
Clematis
Also called clematis, it is actually a whole genus of fast-growing climbing plants. It has a large number of species and cultivars and is found naturally in almost any temperate region of the world. In the garden, it resists temperature changes very well and needs little care, the only exception being the fact that it needs a considerable level of humidity.
Ivy
The genus Hedera has 15 species, the best known of which is the common ivy or Hedera helix. It is one of the best-known climbing plants and also one of the most used in covering walls and facades. Its only notable care is that some of its species grow so much that it is necessary to control them and that it does not tolerate direct sun well.
Jasmine
The genus Jasminum has about 200 species, all of them from tropical and subtropical areas and are some of the best outdoor plants that are easy to care for. These are outdoor climbing plants and shrubs, with white flowers that are as decorative as they are fragrant. It is not at all exquisite with its care, its only important requirement being that it requires abundant light.
Palmetto
Its scientific name is Chamaerops humilis and it is the only wild palm that exists originating in Europe. It is a very bushy plant, with a low bearing and a highly developed root system. It is one of the easiest to care for outdoor plants that need little water.
Wild cabbage
Despite what you may think, this type of inedible cabbage has enormous decorative value thanks to its leaves of white, pink, and purple tones. It is also called wild cabbage or ornamental cabbage, although its scientific name is Brassica oleracea. It supports frost like few plants and only needs a rich soil or a supply of fertilizer.
Daisy flower
Daisies are especially hardy when looking for sun-resistant outdoor plants. In hot climates, these archetypal flowers and so well-known throughout the world will hardly need any care, being necessary only to water them moderately in the warm months, since in winter it will be enough with rains or sporadic waterings.
Chrysanthemum
These lovely flowers native to China and popularized in Japan are a great way to beautify your garden for very little work, especially in cold or cool climates, though not extreme. The only thing they need is abundant indirect light so that their flowers open, being very showy and fragrant. Chrysanthemums reach heights of up to five feet.
Agave
Its scientific name is Agave americana, although it is also called Pita or Pitera. It is a crass native to Mexico, very resistant to drought and soils with a shortage of nutrients. It is highly valued for its particular rosette shape, so characteristic of the Agavaceae, and reaches heights of up to 2 meters. In soil, it does not need irrigation at all, although in a pot it will require some light ones.
Rosebush
Rose bushes are shrubs in the Rosaceae family, known for their precious and fragrant flowers, popular all over the world, and for their thorns. Despite their popularity, they are easy to grow shrubs, needing only plenty of natural light and plenty of watering during their flowering months, especially if we want to see pretty big roses. They are very suitable for hot climates.
Lavender
One of the most popular and appreciated aromatic plants is lavender. Its success is due to its beautiful floral spikes, in lilac and violet tones that can be seen throughout the year, and the fresh and pleasant aroma of these, which is used in all kinds of products.
