How to prevent fungus in your rose bush?

As we have already mentioned, roses can suffer from different diseases, disorders and even acquire bacteria, viruses and pests. It is very important to take the necessary and adequate care to prevent our rose bush from dying or not developing properly.

In addition to the diseases and disorders mentioned above, our rose bush can also be attacked by fungi that could cause a lot of damage to our plants.

For this reason today we bring you some tips to prevent fungus in your rose bush.

  • It is important to know how to properly choose the type of roses that we want in our garden. We must bear in mind that some types of roses are more resistant to fungi and pests than others. For example, bush and old rose bushes are more resistant to some parasites. Similarly, certain rose bushes will require more care than others. So we must know how to choose, which roses are best suited to us.

  • To prevent fungi, we must make sure that our rose bush is healthy, with the necessary amount of sun, and planted in good soil that properly absorbs water.
  • In the same way, to prevent the appearance of fungi, we must maintain the pH of the earth between 5.5 and 6.5. If the pH of the substrate is lower, it is advisable to add ground limestone. If, on the other hand, the pH is greater than 6.6 we must water it with a mixture of water and iron sulfates (2 grams of iron sulfate per 1 liter of water).
  • Unlike what many may think, it is important not to water the leaves and the flower of the rose bushes. The humidity, the only thing that would be generating is the appearance of fungi, and other pests such as black spot, rust, etc.
  • It is vital to be vigilant and periodically inspect our rose bush, to see if its leaves show any signs of disease or weakness. In this way, we will know when you contract a disease and we can take the appropriate precautions.
