Tricks to recover a sick plant

When we have a sick plant there are a series of things that we must do and others that we must not. Today we will give you tips and tricks so that you can recover a plant that has had a problem as soon as possible, so that it can resume its growth and, above all, enjoy good health again. There are numerous products on the market: fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides… and practically all of us have fallen into the mistake of thinking that if we fertilize a plant with problems, it will have more energy and can recover faster. This, as we said, is a mistake since that plant at this time does not need food to grow -which is what the fertilizer is really for-, but to eliminate that pest or disease.

It is important to keep this in mind because many times we use products believing that they will be of great use to us, and then unfortunately it turns out that the remedy is worse than the disease itself. But do not worry. Next we are going to tell you how to treat a plant with problems .

Guts

Once it is detected that a plant is sick with fungi and/or parasites, it is best -if it is in a pot- to separate it from the rest in order to avoid contagion. If, on the other hand, it is in the garden, we will proceed to apply the remedy directly. In both cases it will be the following:

  • In the event that we are watering too much, something that favors the appearance of fungi, we will let the substrate dry before watering again. For mushrooms we can use fungicides, or make infusions with nettle. To prevent this, we will water whenever necessary and, in case of doubt, we will insert a stick (or a finger) into the substrate to check the humidity.
  • Mealybugs and aphids love the dryness of the environment and especially the heat. Before any minimal symptom of weakness they take advantage of the plant. To combat it, in addition to using specific chemical insecticides, we can use Neem oil combined with a clove of garlic that we will place on the surface of the pot. To prevent them, it can be sprayed early in the morning if we live in a very dry climate, or place several glasses of water around it in order to increase the humidity of the environment.
  • To avoid having ants on the trunks of the trees, we will rub them with lemon .
