When we go to a nursery, the normal thing, the inevitable thing, is to visit all the areas. If you love green, you enjoy like a boy or a girl walking the corridors, the different greenhouses, and even taking photos (why not? 😉). What happens is that when you go to the greenhouse of indoor plants it can happen, or at least it happens to me a lot, is that they have species that, yes, they are precious, but being very cold they require care that is not always simple .
To do? Well, so that you can take home those that, hardly, will bring you displeasure, below I have prepared for you a list of easy maintenance flowering houseplants.
Also known as Santa Teresita, it is a genus of hanging cactus native to the rainforests of Brazil. It can reach a height of about 30cm, and its stems about 40-50cm long. They do not have leaves, but what is known as phylloclades assembled with each other that fulfill the function of leaves. Its flowers can be white, orange, pink, red or yellow.
How do you take care of yourself? Although it is a cactus, the care it needs is somewhat different from what we would give to the desert species. The Schlumbergera grows best in semi-shadealso indoors with light, and with continuous watering. Depending on the weather, you may need about 4 waterings a week in summer, and about 2 a week in winter.

How do you take care of yourself? Of all the plants on this list, this is perhaps the one that is the most “difficult” to care for. It needs to be in an area with a lot of light, away from drafts, and to be watered about twice a week. In addition, it needs a regular supply of fertilizer in spring and summer.

How do you take care of yourself? To have it very healthy and to be able to enjoy its beauty, it is important that you have it in a bright roomlike an interior patio, and that you water it every time you see that the earth is almost dry; that is, an average of about 3 times a week in summer and an average of 1-2 times a week in winter.

Clivia (threatened slopes)
It is a herbaceous and rhizomatous plant native to South Africa that reaches a height of about 50cm. Its leaves are tapered, about 3-4cm wide, dark green in color. The flowers are grouped in inflorescences, usually reddish, although there are also orange ones.
How do you take care of yourself? This is a species that lives in the shade of trees and shrubs, so it is very interesting as a houseplant. It requires regular watering, more followed in summer but avoiding waterloggingso we recommend you water it two or three times a week during the warm months and a little less the rest.

Spatifilo (Spathiphyllum)
Also known as the flower of peace or candle of the wind, this is a genus of herbaceous plants native to Mexico, tropical America, Malaysia and the western Pacific. the most common species is Spathiphyllum wallisiiwhich is the one you see in the image above. Is reaches a height of about 40-50cmwith dark green lanceolate leaves, and flowers produced in a spadix (modified leaf) surrounded by a 10 to 15cm long spta, white or yellow in color.
How do you take care of yourself? The reality is that it is one of the easiest to take care of, if not the most. As long as you have it in a well-lit room and water it moderately (3-4 times a week in summer and 1-2 times a week the rest of the year) I’m sure you will always have it perfect. Of course, preferably use water without lime to irrigate, or rain.

Thorn of Christ (Euphorbia millet)
It is a thorny shrub native to Madagascar that can reach a height of 1,5 meters. Its stems are slender, less than a centimeter thick, and are armed with short spines. The leaves are also small, about 3-4cm long, green or variegated (green and yellow). Its flowers are composed of bracts 1 to 2cm long fused two thirds of their length, and are red or yellow.
How do you take care of yourself? Even though it is a Euphorbia, and that there are many plants of this genus that want direct sun “yes or yes”, with the E. Milli
an exception can be made. In fact, It would not be unusual to find it indoors, or even in entrances or porches where the rays of the star king do not reach directly. But what does not change is his intolerance to excess watering. You have to water by letting the substrate dry between one watering and the nextand avoid that the plate or tray that we have placed underneath is full.

African Violet (Saintpaulia)
This precious little plant native to Tanzania and southeastern Kenya (tropical Africa) grows to a maximum height of 15 centimeters and a width of up to 30cm. Its leaves are round or oval, dark green in color and fleshy in texture, and its flowers are 2-3cm in diameter and can be white, purple, violet or light blue.
How do you take care of yourself? Well, the main problem with this plant is that it is VERY sensitive to waterloggingso as soon as you buy it, I recommend you change it pot, putting a mixture of universal growing substrate (for sale here!) with perlite (for sale here!) in equal parts, and then water without ever wetting the leaves or flowers.
From there, keep it in a bright area, without drafts, and re-moisten the soil 2-3 times a week in summer and 1-2 a week the rest of the yeardepending on the temperatures in your area (the hotter it is, the more often you have to water). Remember to remove excess water 30 minutes after watering, and to fertilize it during the warm months with fertilizers such as this, which will help you to have a very healthy growth and flowering.
