Oleander

It needs a sunny exhibition and two or three weekly waterings. Otherwise, resists cold down to -12ºC and heat up to 40ºC (as long as there is no lack of water).

El japanese maple, whose scientific name is Maple palmateis a deciduous shrub or tree -depending on the species- native to East Asia. It reaches a height between 5 and 10 metersand is characterized by having beautiful palmate leaves that change color in autumn.

It is a plant that needs soil and water with a low pH, between 4 and 6, and a climate with well-differentiated four seasons. That is precisely why I wanted to include it in the list, because although it would not survive in a tropical climate, if the temperature in winter drops below 0 degrees (to -17ºC that it holds) and in summer the mercury rises to 30-34ºC, it can grow well. What’s more, mine endure up to 38ºC, but yes: they are planted in akadama and they are irrigated almost daily during the hottest season.

Aspidistra

The aspidistra It is a perennial rhizomatous herbaceous plant native to China, the Himalayas and Japan, formed by long leaves up to 60cm Green color. It produces bluish, violet or ivory flowers but they have no ornamental value since they appear at ground level and are not always visible.

It is one of the most resistant and easy-care plants in the world since it only has to be placed in semi-shade and watered two or three times a week at most. Resists high temperatures (up to 40ºC) and the casualties (up to -10ºC).

El garden plum, whose scientific name is Prunus cerasiferais a deciduous tree native to central and eastern Europe and central and southwest Asia that reaches a height between 6 and 15 meters. It has very pretty leaves, 4-6cm long, reddish-brown in color. It blooms in early spring.

It likes the sun and grows well in calcareous soils. And if that was not enough, it resists temperatures between 38 and -15ºC without problems.

Carnation

The carnation, whose scientific name is Dianthus caryophyllusis a perennial herbaceous plant native to southern Europe that reaches a height of 1 meter. Its flowers bloom from spring to almost fall, so having a cheerful patio, balcony or garden is nothing complicated with it.

All you need is to be in a sunny exposure and frequent waterings. It resists heat without problems and frost down to -5ºC.

Lavender

It is one of the ones that best resists the cold. In fact, it is capable of withstanding up to -17ºC without suffering damage. And if we talk about heat, I can tell you that 38ºC does not affect it either, so it is very interesting for hot and cold climates.
