What plants can be grown in pots?

If you have just started in the world of gardening, you may have many doubts about how to decorate your patio, balcony or the interior of your home with plants, right? All that we can find in a nursery can be very beautiful, but unfortunately not all will adapt in the same way to living in pots, and in fact, there are some that sooner or later they will ask us that we pass them to the ground.

With this in mind, How do you know which plants can be grown in a pot? How are these different from those that have to be planted in the ground?

How to know if a plant can be potted?

As well. The answer to that question will be given to us by experience, but don’t worry, there are some things we can look at to find out if a specific plant can be in a pot throughout its life or is better than not. To know that a plant can be in a pot, you have to look at the following:

  • Although it is in a good size pot – about 20 or 30cm in diameter – the trunk has grown a lot in height and remains thin.
  • The plant does not have woody stems, or it is flowering at a young age.
  • The leaves are small, less than 5cm in length.

Which ones can be grown in containers?

Although it may seem otherwise, the reality is that the vast majority of plants can be in pots. These are just some examples:

Shrubbery

Shrubs are exceptional plants. Many of them produce very pretty flowers, such as the azalea, camellia, poly gala or the Gardenia. All of them can be grown in a pot throughout their life. And the best thing is that they do not need much care: three weekly irrigations and a contribution of regular fertilizer will be perfect.

Plants that are grown primarily for their flower, such as geraniums, carnations, thoughts or bulbousThey can be potted throughout their life without problems. Just They need a universal growing medium, frequent watering and be located in a well-lit area.

If you would like to grow your own food but you don’t have a garden … make yourself a flowerpot . Plant tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cabbages (in large pots), and enjoy the natural flavor of the plants. Use a special garden substrate and water your pots frequently.
