Little by little the winter season is ending, and it is giving way to spring. Although there may still be frosts in some parts of the northern hemisphere, the normal thing is that the temperatures begin to rise slightly and we see more and more flowers in gardens and, of course, in the open fields.
That is why it is very possible that what are called bulbs of spring; that is, those that are planted in late February or early March, and bloom in the summer season. Today we have selected for you the most beautiful and, also, the ones that are easier to grow.
lily
The lilybetter known as Azucena or Lirio, is distributed throughout much of the European and Asian continent.
It is a very ornamental bulbous plant, which can reach an approximate height of one meter, and whose flowers can be of different colors (they can be one color, two, combined with several colors, …).
The lily It is a very grateful bulbous, which will undoubtedly give you great satisfaction, since we can have it in a pot or in the garden.
It resists light frosts without problems.
Amarillys
The Amaryllis It is a plant native to South and Central America, and the Caribbean. He has no preference for any type of terrain. It can be found in humid or dry forests, even in savannas.
It can reach a height of 60cm, but in cultivation it does not usually exceed 40cm. The color of the flowers ranges from white to red, through pink, or combining several colors.
In a pot it is highly recommended to use a substrate that does not have a tendency to compact, which is composed of -for example- perlite, since the Amaryllis fear waterlogging. The bulb could rot and become fungus.
Despite its tropical origin, if it is sheltered it can withstand mild frosts.
Begonia
The Begonia it is perhaps one of the most popular bulbous plants, due to its low cost and easy maintenance. It is native to the American continent.
It is a genus of bulbous plants that encompasses a large number of species. Some can reach a meter in height, while there are others that only reach 20cm. The color of the leaves and flowers also varies greatly in each species.
In cultivation they have proven to be very resistant plants. They are suitable for beginners due to their easy care.
It does not resist strong frosts.
Agapanthus
The Agapanthus it is an amazing plant. Native to the African continent, even if it is bulbous if the weather is good … the leaves will behave like perennials, that is, they will not die.
They can reach an approximate height of 30cm, although the flower stalk can reach 60cm. The flowers can be white or blue.
You can have it in a pot without problems, or in the garden planted in groups around -for example- a tree.
They resist drought quite well once they have well established themselves in the ground, and light frosts.
Cane
We finish this list with a bulbous one that stands out on its own, the Cane. It is distributed throughout the American continent, specifically we can find it in Central America.
It is tremendously grateful, and very ornamental, both for its leaves, which can be green or with reddish tones, and for its flowers of various colors. It can reach a height of one meter.
What can be said about this plant? Although it is not very suitable for potting, it can be kept in planters and / or gardens.
It resists light frosts, and does not usually have pest problems.
