How to preserve the garden bulbs?

Tulips in a garden

If the bulbs are planted in the garden, to ensure that they have an excellent development and, incidentally, that next year they will produce flowers as or more precious than this season, we have to do the following:

  1. The first thing we must do is wait for the leaves or stem to finish drying. This will fatten the bulb.
  2. Then we will carefully extract it from the ground.
  3. Then, we clean it by passing a brush (without water).
  4. Next, we sprinkle them with sulfur, which is an effective fungicide.
  5. Once done, we will each put them in a plastic cup.
  6. And finally, we will leave them in a dark and dry place.

When it is the planting time, we will leave them for about 4 days in a place with but not direct light, we introduce them in a container with water for a day, and we plant them.

And those that are in pots?

If we have bulbous plants in pots, we can do two things: either take them out and follow the previous steps, or leave them. In the event that we opt for the latter, it is important that we sprinkle the surface of the substrate with sulfur and cover it with a cardboard. In this way, they can be preserved much better.
