Varieties of geraniums for your garden

When you want to enjoy a garden or a balcony full of flowers, the first plant we usually think of is the geranium. They are very popular plants that hardly need maintenance to brighten our day with their beautiful petals. But, Do you know that there are many varieties of geraniums?

We tend to think that there are only two or three, but the reality is that there are many more. This time we are going to know more depth those that are more easily found in nurseries.

This geranium is, so to speak, the most common of all. They grow to a height of about 40cm normally, but can reach 2m. Its flowers can be single or double, of colors that can be red, white, pink, oranges … and, in addition, they appear from spring to fall.

Pelargonium domestica

This beautiful plant is known by the name of Royal geranium or Geranium pansy. It grows very upright, reaching one and a half meters in height. It has a tendency to branch out a lot, and many flowers sprout from each branch, which are large, about 5cm in diameter, with two dark spots on their upper petals.

This type of geranium grows to a height of one meter. Its leaves give off a very pleasant aroma, which is why it is known by the name of scent geranium. It has small flowers, about 2-3cm, that appear in summer.

This variety of geranium is the one that is most used to decorate balconies. It is pendantand also has a very abundant flowering. It is the undisputed protagonist of the streets of Andalusia. With a height that usually does not exceed 40cm, ivy geranium is the most recommended option when you want to brighten up a room that has been empty for too long.
