Vriesea

It is a flowering plant of the bromeliad family, also known in some places as “Indian feather” and adapts easily to different types of climates, but In general, it adapts well to warm or temperate climates.

Vriesea contains a cylindrical, feather-like flower that is yellow with orange and red accents. As an indoor flower it remains viable in low light, avoid direct exposure to sunlight all day, as its leaves can burn and slowly die, you only need an hour a day to receive the sun’s rays.

Vriesea requires very little water. You should not overcrowd the pot. Water only when the soil looks dry. As for its subscribers, it is fertilized to strengthen it in summer, it is inconvenient in winter, since the heat affects its leaves and causes it to rot.

Orchid

Orchids are one of the most precious flowers to decorate interiors, although they also adapt to outdoor environments, as they have a wide variety of species and hybrids, you can choose from many colors and different shapes.

Also, although this flower is a bit fragile, its care is very easy and simple. You should put it in a cool place with light but out of direct sunlight, perhaps near a window. During flowering, direct exposure to sunlight and overwatering can cause it to die back quickly.

It is said that, in general, between 17° and 23°C is the ideal temperature for orchids to be well cared for. Wet the roots of the orchid once a week so that it oxygenates more easily, if you see a red tint on its leaves it is because they are receiving too much light, on the other hand if they are a very dark green it is because they need more sunlight.

Spatiphilian

spathiphile

Peace lily is a herb (green stem, not woody) that adorns the interiors of many homes; Its bright green leaves and beautiful white petals covering the flower spikes are an eye-catcher in any bright interior. They are also called “the cradle of Moses” or “the cradle of Bethlehem”.

This flower requires very little light to survive, but it is better to place them where the light penetrates to improve flowering. A little water or saturation can cause them to die, so water them about twice a week in the summer; at other times, it will only require watering every two weeks. This flower grows quickly, so you need to repot or transplant it once a year.

African violet

It is a brightly colored plant that blooms all year round, African violets come in different varieties, so you can choose the color that best suits the decoration of the space you want to focus on. You can find red, white, blue, pink and of course purple. It is one of my favorites for interior decoration because it is not big, but its color makes it attractive and fun.

Being originally from the eastern part of the African continent, does not withstand temperatures below 10°C. They need to receive sunlight, but not directly, they are vulnerable to atmospheric air. Too much humidity is bad for the flowers, as well as excess water, which negatively affects their very green and velvety leaves, leading to rot.

They are only watered every day in summer. Its leaves can be gently cleaned with a soft cloth or brush. You should replace their pots when you notice excessive leaf growth.

Anthurium

One of the most common herbs for decorating interior spaces, Anthurium has beautiful, heart-shaped flowers in red, white, green and pink. They make the interior look more elegant and lively.

Being tropical plants, they do not require special care, but the climate, irrigation and humidity must be taken into account. The right climate to keep them bright and shiny is between hot and humid climates with temperatures ranging from 12° to 25°C.

Exposing plants to very cold weather can cause their flowers to dwindle and their leaves to dry out and fall off. Anthuriums are adapted to places with low light, if you want to have them in very bright places, be careful with being able to dissipate the light a little.

medina

medinilla

sometimes called Medinilla is magnificentis a shrubby flowering plant native to the Philippines that is used to decorate interior gardens, bright rooms or some glassed-in balconies. Its pink flowers appear at different times of the year.

They need the rays of the morning sun to affect them, but not directly or throughout the day, so it is better to keep them near a window for a few hours. It adapts to tropical, warm temperatures and places with high humidity. It is usual to spray them with cold water in winter and reduce the amount of water. Never water while its substrate is still saturated, do it when it is dry, approximately every 8 or 10 days.

If you want to transplant it, the best way to do it is in spring. The fertilizer you provide should be rich in potassium to strengthen it and keep its leaves vibrant and healthy.

Kalanchoe

Kalanchoe is also known as scarlet, it is a plant with flowers of various colors depending on the variety you choose (orange, white, pink, yellow, red), its leaves are very bright dark green, succulent, it acts as a reservoir for plants, which makes it one of the hardiest indoor flowers.

In general, it is a succulent and therefore does not require multiple waterings per month. It develops well in warm climates, with good lighting to ensure its flowering period, and adequate ventilation without being exposed to constant and strong drafts. It is normal for Kalanchoes to flower in winter, but in some nurseries growers manipulate them to flower in 12 months.

I hope that with this information you can learn more about the care of common flower houseplants.
