Herbs are plants that are not usually very well received in gardens: they grow so fast that, if they were left, we would have a jungle of grass instead of a neat garden.

Keeping them at bay is actually simple, but you have to be very consistent. So that, If you want to know how to control weeds, put on your gloves and let’s get to work .

The best way to control herbs is by removing them. If you have a large garden you can do it with a rototillerwhich in addition to removing them, what it will do is introduce them underground, thus mixing them with it; in this way, as they decompose, it will release its nutrients, which will serve to fertilize the soil.

Moreover, if you have a small garden, or if only herbs have grown in a corner, you can use a hoe. But how? If we only cut them, they will come out again since the roots are intact. To avoid this, you have to go a little deeper, without wanting to make a hole, but trying to prevent the blade of the hoe from being horizontal when it hits the ground.

Put an anti-herb mesh

It is, without a doubt, the ideal option to control them. It is especially useful when you want to have a garden or a corner of flowers where the only plants that grow are only the ones you want. The anti-herb mesh being dark in color will prevent herb seeds from germinating.

Putting it is simple: You have to remove the grass and stones that are in the ground, expand the mesh, and fasten it with nails. So that it is not visible to the naked eye, it can be covered with decorative stones, pine bark, or even with artificial grass.

Use a herbicide

Herbicides are products that kill weeds. You have to be very careful with them because, if we choose the wrong one, we can end up eliminating the plants from the garden. Thus, it is very, very important to always read the labels on the containers.

Natural herbicides

Fortunately, there are several natural foods and products that can help control them. And they are:

  • Sal Island: if we spread it on the herbs that we want to eliminate, sooner rather than later we will see how they wither when losing moisture.
  • Boiling water: as easy as this. We put water to boil in a pot, and we pour it over those plants that we need to eliminate, taking care not to splash the others.
  • Vinegar: By containing acetic acid, vinegar is a herbicide that kills plant leaves. For this reason, it works best in those that are young, since once the leaves have dried, the roots do not have the strength to grow new ones. If we mix a liter and a half of vinegar, lemon juice and a tablespoon of soap in a sprayer, it will be much more effective.
