Taking care of the plants is very nice, but if the days and weeks go by you see that they continue practically the same as always, you can get to worry. When they stop their growth, you always have to wonder why, since it is not usually normal for them to do so and less when the temperatures are pleasant.

With this in mind, if you want to know why my plants do not grow and what can you do so that they continue to do so, do not hesitate to continue reading .

Lack of space

One of the reasons why the plant may have stopped its growth is because it does not have space. When we buy one, The first thing we always have to do is move it to a bigger pot or to the garden in spring.since otherwise its roots will not be able to expand any more and, therefore, they will not be able to absorb more nutrients so that the plant can grow.

In addition, if they are kept in containers, they must be transplanted from time to time (every 2-3 years), adding new substrate.

Plants need to drink water, but also “eat” if they want to grow strong and healthy. Especially during the warm months, they must be paid with specific fertilizerswhich we can find in nurseries and garden stores. Of course, we can also choose to use Organic fertilizersLike guano or manure, or even be combining them by taking a month of one type, and the following month of another.

Irrigation problems

Irrigation is, without a doubt, one of the most important and, at the same time, most complicated tasks that all of us who have plants must do. If we don’t do it right, that is, whether we fall short or overdo it, they stop growing. How do you know when to water? Checking the moisture of the soilsomething we can do for example by inserting a thin wooden stick and see how much soil has adhered to it (if it comes out practically clean, we can water), or by taking the pot once watered and again after a few days (the soil wet weighs more than dry, so this difference in weight can serve as a guide).

Land with poor drainage

If we plant our plants in soils or in pots with substrates that have poor drainage, that is, that do not allow excess water to filter quickly, the roots will have many problems to develop correctly. To avoid it, it is convenient, before planting, water that land and see how long it takes to filter. It shouldn’t take more than 2 seconds for plant substrate, or 2-3 minutes for garden soil. If it takes longer, we invite you to read this article.
