Landing and care
Where to plant and how to care for a hornbeam? This is the tree that has the highest shade tolerance, unlike other deciduous plants. But, despite this, it grows well both in the sun and in the shade.
Wind resistant and winter hardy. The plant prefers moist, loamy soils with a low lime content. Can’t stand soil salinity.
For seedlings up to 3 m landing hole depth should be 50-70 cm and width 70-90 cm. If heavy soils we recommend to arrange drainage from broken bricks or crushed stone with a layer of 10 cm.
prepared pits fill with cooked fertile substrate, consisting of black soil, soddy and leafy soil and humus in a ratio of 2:2:1:1. 100 g of lime and 100-150 g of complete mineral fertilizer are added to this substrate, and they are carefully distributed at the bottom of the pit so that there is no contact with the roots.
The seedlings are placed in the hole so that the root neck is at the level of the soil surface. planted plants must be wateredper plant at least 30-40 liters.
Further support the soil around the trunks when wet, for this, the trunk circles need mulch style=”font-weight: 400″>.
In time remove weeds around plants. Since this plant is unpretentious, it does not need special care. Hornbeam tree well tolerates molding and sanitary pruningtherefore ideal for creating hedges.
