Reproduction of lily of the valley occurs both vegetatively and with the help of seeds.

The use of lily of the valley in medicine

Lily of the valley contains such substances as saponins, essential oils, sugars, citric acid, terpenes, coumarins, and flavonoids.

Therefore, raw materials of lily of the valley are used for the manufacture of medical preparations. Preparations from lily of the valley are used to treat heart defects, liver disease, heart failure, gall bladder damage, and to strengthen capillaries. Some of them also have antispasmodic and vasodilating effects.

In folk medicine, this plant is used to treat insomnia and headache.
