How is the persimmon?

Diospyros kaki

The persimmon is a fruit similar in size to an apple, with a more or less rounded shape, produced by the Diospyros kaki tree . The name »persimón» is the registered trademark of the »Denomination of Origin Kaki Rivera del Xúquer». The skin and its pulp (the “meat”) is orange. The pulp is a bit crunchy, but very smooth, with a sweet flavor .

Once it’s ripe enough it takes on a jam-like consistency , but if it’s too “green” (undercooked), not only will it be hard but it can also leave your mouth looking as if the dentist had just given you anesthesia.

But the truth is that this is a problem that can be easily avoided. In fact, all you have to do is put the persimmons in a pot in which you have put a cup or glass of beer, cover it and leave it there for a couple of days. In this way the fruits will ripen quickly.
