It is a phenomenon known as vecería , and unfortunately practically all species of fruit trees can be affected.

What are the causes of vecería?

The vecería is a phenomenon that occurs because the plant, or some part of it, has lacked or has had something left over. Thus, the causes are the following :

Fortunately, yes, although it will depend on the species, variety, climate and location, among other factors, whether good results are achieved in that season or in the following ones. What is done is the following:

  • Thinning of fruits : at the beginning of the development of the fruits, some of them or fruitful branches are removed. In this way, those that remain can mature without any problem.
  • Striped : it is done mainly in citrus. It is a practice that consists of making a cut in the bark of the tree to temporarily prevent the descent of elaborated sap to the roots. This ensures that the growth of the fruits is optimal.
