List of ornamental trees for pots

Albizia julibrissin

For those of us who like to plant, we will likely end up with the patio or deck full of pots. And the thing is, when you really like something…, what we least usually think about is space. But of course, over time there are those who have been forced to give away plants. So that this does not happen to you, I am going to leave you a list of ornamental potting trees.

Do not give up having a tree even if you have little room. Take a look at the species that we propose.

Tamarix

Tamarix

We start the list with a tree that, although it can thicken its trunk up to 40cm, supports pruning so well and its flowers are so beautiful that I could not stop including it in it. Its about Tamarixa tree or large shrub native to the Mediterranean region resistant to drought, to the sea breeze, and also to light frosts of up to 2 degrees Celsius below zero. What more could you want?

It grows to an approximate height of 15m (in a pot it will not exceed 5-6m), it has an evergreen and blooms in summer. Its growth rate is more average; that is, you will see changes year after year, but it is not excessively fast. It can be exposed to direct sunlight as well as in places with partial shade.

Lagerstroemia indica

Lagerstroemia indica

The Lagerstroemia indicabetter known as the Jupiter Tree, is native to the Asian continent, specifically China and Japan. Its leaves behave like deciduous, turning orange-reddish in autumn before falling, and it has a rather slow growth.

It is a tree that reaches an approximate height of 6m, whose flowers are very beautiful: depending on the variety, they will be pink or red. A species that has it all: spectacular flowering from an early age, perfect size for a pot, an autumnal coloration worthy of admiration, and as if that were not enough, it is resistant to frost of up to 4 degrees Celsius below zero. Perhaps the only drawback is that it cannot be watered with calcareous water, but that has an easy solution: just add a few drops of lemon or vinegar before watering to lower the pH.

baileyana acacia

baileyana acacia

The Acacia genus has species of a very interesting size, such as the large acacias of the African savannah, the acacia tortilis. But it also has some species with a smaller size, such as the baileyana acacia. This beautiful tree is fast growing, reaching 4-5m in height.

It has evergreen, which they can be dark green or turning lilacwhich would be the Acacia baileyana »Rubra». Its flowers are yellow, in the shape of mini pompoms, and appear in spring.

And so far our selection. Do you know any more that may be in a pot?
