In summer I do not recommend collecting it, since the plant is in full growth and, when cutting, it would lose more sap than it can allow, which would weaken it and we could lose it.

How to collect rosemary?

With gardening scissors -the ones we use to cut flowers- previously disinfected with pharmacy alcohol, we will select those stems that we like the most. These they have to look healthy, without brown or yellow spots, and without a trace of pests. It is advisable not to cut those that have flowers, as producing them involves a very large energy expenditure and if they are cut that effort will have been in vain.

Once we have cut the stems that interest us the most we will make bundles with up to 10 branchestying them with a rope. When they’re all tied up We will hang them upside down in a dark, dry and well ventilated place for two weeks in order for them to dry.

After that time, we place the stems on a smooth and clean surface, and We remove the leaves to put them later in hermetic containers. And now, finally, we can use rosemary in the kitchen whenever we want 🙂.

  2. Then, take a few steps away from the rosemary and identify those that are growing too much, or in a direction (or area) that you do not like, considering the style you want to give it (for example, if you want to give it the shape of a tree, the leftover stems will sprout from the trunk).
  3. Now, cut or reduce the length of the stems you consider.
  4. Finally, check if you have left any stem uncut and that should be cut, and when you finish clean the tool you have used with a disinfectant product.

  • Infusion: 10 grams of leaves are boiled in a liter of water, strained and finally left to rest and then be drunk.
