This wonderful plant is a deciduous shrub – that is, it falls off in autumn – native to Asia Minor. In the wild it can grow into a tree up to 10m high, but in cultivation it is not usually allowed to exceed 4-5m. Its small white flowers sprout in spring and / or summer, and its delicious fruits will be ripe in autumn-winter. It has a medium-fast growth rate if the weather conditions are appropriate.

Elderberry prefers to live in moist, cool and sandy soils, so it is common to find it near riversor in forests where rainfall is high.
