Magnolia tree characteristics

The magnolia or magnolia, of the Magnoliaceae family, comes from the United States. It is a slow-growing tree and can reach up to 30 meters in height.

As you can imagine, there are a ton of varieties, each with a type of leaf and bloom. In summer it usually produces solitary, very large white or cream flowers that are also super scented. As for its leaves, they are large and perennial, oval or elliptical in shape, hard and of an intense green color.

If you want to grow a magnolia tree in your garden , you will have to take into account different aspects. First of all, you should know that this tree should be located in a sunny place , with a temperate climate and humid environment, although it can also be located in partial shade.

It is also important that you bear in mind that its resistance to cold is moderate and it is greatly affected by frost.

On the contrary, it prefers acid soils , rich in organic matter and well drained.

As for the waterings, they should be regular during the first years, especially in summer. One of the positive things about this species is that it is not usually affected by any pests and diseases.
