It is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the humid places of Europe, whose scientific name is Ulmar Filipendula. It is popularly known as altareina, espirea, filipéndula, florón, norotil, queen of the meadow, meadowsweet, ulmarina or queen of the meadows.
Reaches a height of up to two meterswith basal leaves with up to 5 pairs of leaflets, which measure more than 2cm and have a serrated margin. The flowers are very small, 2 to 5mm, white, and are grouped in long inflorescences during the summer.
Medicinal properties
It is anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic, but it cannot be consumed in case of hypersensitivity to salicylates, gastroduodenal ulcers, active bleeding, or treatment with anticoagulants or hemostats is followed.
What are their cares?
If you want to have a meadowsweet specimen, we recommend taking care of it as follows:
- Location: it must be outside, in full sun or in semi-shade.
- Earth:
- Irrigation: 4-5 times a week in summer, and every 2-3 days the rest of the year.
