Well, it is a very elegant palm tree, which has a fairly fast growth rate and why not say so? Is beautiful. And the best of all is that it is very resistant to cold and its price, although it is hard to believe, is much lower than we could imagine.

It is an endemic palm tree from Bolivia that grows to a height of up to 14 meters (although normally it does not exceed 10m). Its leaves are pinnate, dark green on the upper side and glaucous on the underside. When they are adults, they can measure up to 3 meters in length. The trunk stands more or less erect, and is up to 50cm thick.

It grows at a rate of 20-30cm / yearwhich is why it is a very interesting species to have in young gardens. Also, decorate the room well from an early age.

What care do you need?

If you want to have one parajubaea hairwe recommend that you provide these care:

  • Location: outside, in full sun.
  • Soil or substrate: the land must be fertile, with good drainage. If it is going to be potted, the substrate can be a mixture of black peat with perlite in equal parts.
  • Irrigation: two or three times a week in summer, and somewhat less the rest of the year. We must avoid waterlogging.
  • Subscriber: in spring and summer it must be paid with a fertilizer for palm trees, following the indications specified on the package.
  • Multiplication: by seeds in spring-summer. Direct sowing in seedbed. They will germinate in about two months at 20-25ºC.
  • Planting or transplanting time: in spring.
  • Rusticity: supports up to -7ºC.
