Its popular name does not give clues to its scientific name: Maritime lobulariaa plant that is also known as Maritime Alder, Basket, Silver Basket or Alison. It is native to the Mediterranean area and the great virtue of this species is that blooms most of the year except for the coldest season.

The Honey Flower belongs to the family Brassicaceae and it is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant that reaches a discreet height of 20 centimeters and stands out for its small leaves that are between 5 and 6 cm long and up to 1 cm wide.

The most striking thing about this plant are its flowers, which are presented in white or in a very attractive reddish tone. They are also small and reach a diameter of 6 mm, although they become striking as they appear together, forming a single inflorescence. This is how it is common to see that the plants are covered almost entirely with a large number of inflorescences to the point that the foliage is almost hidden.
But this is not the only virtue of the Honey Flower because it also gives a intense and very pleasant aroma that floods the air.

Another of the great advantages of having a Honey Flower in the garden is that the flowering period of the plant is very long, extending from winter to summer. In temperate zones you can even give flowers throughout the year.

The ideal is to grow it in exposed areas since it is a plant that needs a intense sunlight. On the other hand, it does not present inconveniences in the cold because even tolerates intense frosts.
