  • Substratum: this plant grows in acid soils (with a pH between 4 and 6), that is why the soil that we are going to use has an equally low pH. We can purchase a substrate prepared for acidophilic plants -hortensias, azaleas, camellias-, or we can make our own with 40% blond peat, 30% vermiculite, and 20% worm humus (or any other organic fertilizer).
  • Irrigation: to irrigate the copihue, rainwater must be used whenever possible, but if we do not have access to it, we will irrigate with osmosis or potable water. We can also let it rest overnight so that the heavy materials are in the lowest part of the container, and water the next day. It is important to always maintain a certain degree of humidity, so we will give it water about three times a week in summer, and 1 or 2 weekly the rest of the year.
