There are climbers that are very common, but there are others, such as the Pyrostegia Venustawhich in addition to being almost unknown are really precious. Its tube-shaped flowers appear when the vast majority of plants are at rest, and it also remains evergreen.

The Pyrostegia Venusta is an evergreen climber native to Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina that reaches a height between 4 and 6 meters. It is popularly known as winter bignonia, flame liana or orange trumpeter, and it develops stems from which trifoliate leaves sprout whose leaflets are ovate to oblong-lanceolate, and measure up to 8-11 by 5-7cm. The upper surface is glabrous to pubescent, and the underside glabrous or hairy.
The flowers are tubular, 4-6cm in length, orange in color. Blooms from fall to winter. The fruit is a linear capsule up to 30cm long.

Would you like to know how to take care of it? Aim:
- Location: it can be both in direct sun and in semi-shade. You need a guardian or support to be able to climb.
- Earth:
- Garden: fertile, loose, deep and somewhat acidic (pH 5 to 6,5).
- Pot: it is advisable to mix substrate for acid plants (you can get it here!) with 30% perlite (for sale here!).
- Irrigation: 4-5 times a week in summer, somewhat less the rest of the year. It does not withstand drought. Use rainwater or lime-free.
- Subscriber: from early spring to late fall with guano, in powder if it is in the garden or liquid if it is in a pot. In the first case you have to add about two handfuls and mix with the earth, and in the second you have to follow the indications specified on the container since even if it is organic there is a risk of overdose.
- Multiplication: by seeds and cuttings in spring.
- Rusticity: sensitive to frost. Grow outdoors only if the temperature does not drop below -2ºC (and even so, it has to be very punctual and brief).
