St. John’s Wort or St. John’s Wort is a perennial herb that grows up to one meter in height and produces yellow flowers made up of five petals. It is very decorative, so much so that it is often found in gardens and patios in regions that enjoy a temperate climate.

The hypericum, whose scientific name is Hypericum perforatumis a perennial herb that produces erect stems up to 1 meter high. Its pretty yellow flowers bloom during the summer, which is when they have to be collected and stored in a dry, hermetically sealed container.

Once dry, we can benefit from its interesting medicinal properties, which are the following:

  • Antidepressant: we will take two infusions with a small spoonful of flowers and water a day. The treatment should not last more than a month, after which it has to be suspended.
  • Nervous system tonic: helps improve mood and improve memory. You only have to take two infusions a day made with a small spoonful of dried flowers.
  • Analgesic: if we have rheumatic pain, low back pain, sciatica or the like, we can take an infusion of St. John’s wort flowers twice a day.
  • Digestive: to stop vomiting and diarrhea, relieve stomach pain and heartburn, we can also take an infusion of its flowers a couple of times each day.
