The Mahonia aquifolium it is an evergreen shrub native to western North America. The fruits look like grapes, although bluish in color, and they are edible. These begin to ripen in late spring, as soon as the flowers begin to fade. Its leaves are leathery, dark green, with slightly serrated edges.
