Looking for climbing plants for low-light locations? If so, you can stop searching. Today I am going to propose several species that you can have in those corners where there is more shade than light. Plants that, with a minimum of care, will give a new life to those spaces that have been left a little abandoned.

Lonicera caprifolium
The first on our list is the Lonicera caprifoliummuch better known as honeysuckle. It is an evergreen climber that has a rather fast growth. It will live in warm or temperate climates, where it can withstand light frosts without suffering any damage. With the help of supports, it can reach a height of about 6m, but it can be pruned to the height you want towards the end of winter or in autumn, before it begins to cool.
Passiflora caerulea
The Passiflora caeruleaknown as Passionaria or Flor de la Pasión, is a very fast growing climber with a height of about 5m. It climbs with the help of simple tendrils, so it will only need a little help for the first few months after it was planted, holding the stems, for example, to a stake until it can stand on its own. It has an evergreen, so you can have that apparently abandoned wall covered throughout the year since, in addition, it resists light frosts of up to 3 degrees below zero.
Philodendron climbing
Who has not had or has a Philodendron climbing at home? It is one of the most popular indoor plants, as it adapts very well to living in areas with little light. Many of us know it by its other name: potos. It has an evergreen, and a rather slow growth, especially if it lives in a cold area. It is sensitive to frost, so its cultivation outdoors is only recommended if you have a warm climate throughout the year.
Trachelospermum jasminoides
Jasmine’s first cousin, the Trachelospermum jasminoides. It is an ideal climbing shrub for a wide variety of climates: from hot to cold with frosts down to 10 degrees below zero. It has an evergreen, and white flowers that, as we said, are quite reminiscent of jasmine. It grows to an approximate height of 4-5m, rather slowly; but if we give it frequent watering it can speed up the rhythm a bit.
