The privet it is a shrub or small tree very popular for its small but fragrant flowers. They are very easy to grow, and tolerate a lot of pruning, a virtue that has caused them to be included in garden designs around the world.

But What are the uses of privet?

The privet as hedge is spectacular, as you can see in the image above. It is allowed to grow up to 2m maximum, with a diameter of 80cm. This plant when cultivated in this way is ideal for delimiting paths or different areas of the garden.

The most recommended species is Ligustrum ovalifoliumsince it remains evergreen and, in addition, supports all types of soils and cold down to -15ºC.

Although its most popular use is for a garden hedge, you can also find it as a small tree. The arboreal species par excellence of the genus is the Luscious privetwhich can grow up to 10m in height. It has evergreen leaves, green with a yellowish band around the edges. Withstands temperatures down to -10ºC.

Yes, gentlemen, yes. It can also be used as Bonsai. In fact, it is one of the most popular plants in the world. Evergreen species are used above all, such as Luscious privet that we saw before. It has an easily controllable growth rate and, as its leaves are small, it is highly recommended for beginnersbecause you do not have to be as aware of the subscriber as you would have to be if the tree had large leaves.

Privet is a very interesting plant, don’t you think? By the way, although the fruits may look good, don’t eat themas they are toxic to humans. Unfortunately, only birds can taste them. We will have to settle for its beautiful flowers .
