This botanical genus includes herbaceous plants, but also succulents. They are very decorative, suitable for pot or garden. In fact, it is widely used as a rockery plant, since their water needs are low.

As we said, this genre is very, very extensive and varied. It includes around 8 thousand species of herbaceous plants, small trees, annuals … and the ones that interest us the most: crass. These are seen very frequently in collections, as they have a high ornamental value and, in addition, truly spectacular compositions can be made.

The color and shape of its leaves varies according to the species, but generally we find green and glaucous leaves, with a rounded or elongated shape ending in a point. Also the adult size is different in all of them, but do not worry: they do not usually exceed 40cm in height, something that undoubtedly makes them a perfect plants for small gardens.

In cultivation it is one of the most grateful plants that we can find. Due to its resistance to drought, you can plant it in your xero-garden, and after just one year you can forget about watering. It’s great, right? And by the way grows on all types of soilsAlthough if it is kept in a pot, it is highly recommended that it have a porous substrate, as it is sensitive to rotting due to excess water. Thus, we will water very occasionally, letting the soil dry completely between waterings.

It is important that we place it in an area where it receives direct sunlight, and that we protect it from intense and / or long-lasting frosts, below -2ºC. If it is colder in your area, take advantage of those months to have your plant decorating your home .
