Choose a healthy lucky bamboo

The lucky bamboo, whose scientific name is dracaena sanderianais also known as tape or lucky bamboo in English. You will find it for sale in nurseries and garden stores, sometimes also in hypermarkets. If you would like to get one, you have to choose one that is bright greenwhich will tell you that he is healthy. It should not have yellowish areas or stains of any kind.

Something you should also do is smell it. If it has been planted in a container with an unsuitable substrate, or if it has been watered too much, it will probably smell bad. If so, it is better not to buy it.

Plant it in the ground

Once you have your lucky bamboo potted, you should plant it in a pot with substrate and drainage holes. Dracaenas are plants that do not live well in water: they quickly rot. From early spring to late summer (you can even continue until early fall if you live in a mild climate) you must fertilize your lucky bamboo with liquid fertilizers that you will find for sale in nurseries and garden stores. You can use the ones that are already prepared for green plants, or opt for the guano What is an organic product. In any case, follow the instructions specified on the package.

Equally, you must remove the dry, diseased or weak leaves so that it continues to look pretty. Use scissors previously disinfected with pharmacy alcohol.
