Anti-stress plants to have in the office

Aglaonema

A study carried out two years ago by the Royal Agricultural College of Cirencester, England, indicates that in those places decorated with plants environmental quality and physical and psychological health are improved of people.

The study assures that in a room where there are plants, the inattention of the students and workers present is reduced by 70 percent. In addition, they level moisture, help prevent coughing and dryness of the mucous membranes, throat and skin.

Myth or Reality? It does not matter, it is always nice to have plants in our environments and that is why we recommend some species for your office. The characteristics of care are relatively uniform: moderate temperature of 12º to 28º C, light even if artificial, and moderate irrigation with light and common substrate (peat, ground pine leaf and river hangover).

Dracaena Croton (Codiaeum variegated): Many know it as “lucky bamboo”. It has long, pointed leaves and its stripes can be, depending on the variety, white, yellow or pink. They grow in low light and the watering depends on the variety chosen.

Aglaonema (Aglaonema treubii or Aglaonema commutatum): Perfect for environments with low light and heat. In order for it to flourish, it must be given a winter rest of 20 days and with little irrigation, in a cool place. In summer, in addition to watering it, it can be sprayed twice a week; in winter watering can be every 10 days.

Croton (Codiaeus variegated): You need a more or less uniform temperature. Its colors are more vivid the more light it has. For its care it requires good lighting and humidity.

Ficus benjamina (Ficus benjamina L.): Although they are plants that adapt absolutely to all places, what they do not tolerate is the lack of light. It is a very pleasant plant for its foliage and brightness.

Saw palmetto (Chamaerops humilis): It is a plant both indoors and outdoors. Very resistant to heat and drought but does not support frost. It needs light and watering from time to time.
