The acidophilic plants They are those that grow in acidic soils, with a pH between 4 and 6. Many of them are native to the Asian continent, especially Japan and China, but there are others that come from America. These plants are cultivated for their extraordinary beauty and elegance, in much of the world, even if you don’t have the right soil, they are used to grow them in pots.
Although there is a great variety, we are going to introduce you to those types of acidophilic plants that more easily you can find in nurseries and garden stores.
Japanese maple
The japanese maples are deciduous trees or shrubs that grow to a height between the 4 and 10 meters. There are many varieties, such as the following:

They like temperate climates and shady exposures, where they can grow in the shelter of other taller plants.
Hydrangea

They grow to a height of about 50-60cm, being ideal as plants for flower hedges. They grow wonderfully in shady exposures, but if you live in a temperate climate, without extreme temperatures, you can have it in an area where it gets direct sunlight for a few hours.
Daphne
La Daphne it is a 2-3 meter tall evergreen shrub whose precious little flowers they give off a very pleasant aroma. These plants can be grown in pots, where they can be seen spectacular in patios or terraces sheltered from direct sun.

It is very interesting for the amount of flowers that sprout during the summer and autumn, being able to be almost completely covered by them. Like the hydrangea, it is recommended to have it in a shady area if you live in a very hot climate.
Gardenia
La Gardenia It is a shrub or small tree 2m high. It has evergreen leaves, of a bright green color. Its lovely flowers are white, and they have a very pleasant aroma.
Azalea
The Azalea are evergreen shrubs that stand out for having some very decorative flowers of different colors (pink, red, bicolor). They grow to a height of 1m maximum, although in cultivation it rarely exceeds 40cm. It can be kept both in a pot and in the garden as long as the soil is acidic, in an exhibition protected from direct sunlight.
