Gray Diphyllelia

I am a curious person and I like to investigate and find those little finds from nature, especially if they are my beloved plants.

That is why today I want to share with you a surprising fact that takes place in a corner of the East and when a simple plant comes into contact with water.

Skeleton flower

The Gray Diphyllelia it is an amazing plant that has a very particular magic. Its flowers are white but when they come into contact with water … they become transparent! A gift from nature that arises on rainy days and when the flowers appear to be made of glass due to the effect of the water.

When water comes into contact with the petals, they begin to lose their pigmentation and thus become transparent but return to their original state once they dry.

This plant lives in the humid forests of mountains found in cold regions of China and Japan and is known as the skeleton flower.

What is Grayi Diphyllelia like

Undoubtedly, it is this characteristic that draws attention but, beyond this beautiful exceptionality, the Gray Diphyllelia it is a fairly ordinary plant, which would not attract attention by its appearance.

The plant is presented in partnership with its large leaves, which contrast with the size of its small flowers, and are shaped like an umbrella. The Grayi Diphyllelia can reach an average height of 0.4 meters and it is a perennial plant whose magic happens between mid-spring until early summer, as it is when it blooms.
